t i m e f o r d e s s e r t

Inara George. Sweet, lovely, go light a candle and run a bubble bath Inara. I first heard Inara when she was featured on KCRW radio over a year ago (check out my link section) and immediately began to listen to her CD over, and over, and over (big mistake … keep reading). If it’s upbeat rock you’re after, you might want to leave Inara alone for the time being. Be forewarned: she’s mellow. Don’t leave her in your stereo/car for too long, or you will tire of her (and you may succumb to inertia and fall off the bed/drive off the road). Inara is best in small doses, sipped sparingly like an expensive wine. Remember: excessive wine drinking may cause migraines.

I’m not really sure what to recommend from her album “All Rise,” since it’s pretty much all fairly similar (which might be a strike against her from some of you folks). Try “A Day,” “Mistress,” "Fools in Love," and “Infinity.”

Recently, Inara has been collaborating with other musical cats I’ve never heard of. Check out George is Jones on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/georgeisjones) and give a listen to “Followed” and “Ruins.” Also, the bird and the bee on MySpace as well: (http://www.myspace.com/thebirdandthebee).

If you’re a fan of Inara, or find you’re becoming one, you may want to check out Imogen Heap (or Frou Frou) (http://www.imogenheap.co.uk/).
